Welcome to the land of renewable energy, sustainable urban design, efficient sorting of waste, urban farms, and eco-friendly transportation.
This tour will allow you to discover the many facets of Copenhagen, focusing on how this beautiful city has successfully integrated environmental initiatives into its urban fabric.
This bike ride aims to present the city’s sustainable policies, with a focus on soft mobility (non-motorised transport), as well as some architectural highlights.
Every day, 1.2 million kilometres are cycled in Copenhagen – 45% of the city’s residents cycle to work, university, or school. To support this, many bike lanes (400 km) have been developed. During rush hour, traffic lights on major roads are specially adjusted to accommodate the flow of cycle traffic and regulated to cyclist speeds (20 km/h).
We will discuss multimodality (metro, buses, trains, port shuttles) and the municipality’s proactive policy to discourage car use in the city.
We will pass through the Superkilen urban park in the multicultural district of Nørrebro. This new public space, designed by the renowned architectural agency BIG, was co-created with local residents, most of whom are of foreign origin.
