Discover the Assistens Cemetery in Copenhagen: an unusual, guided tour through Danish history and nature.
All our guided tours are PRIVATE and led by professional guides with a passion for history, gastronomy, literature and more.
In this open-air ‘museum’ known as Assistens Cemetery, we invite you on a journey beyond time — a pilgrimage through the world of Danish arts, literature, music, and science. Along the way, we’ll encounter a tortoise, a menhir, a rather exuberant Artemis, a forest of pens, and many other graves with astonishing stories.
This elegant park, filled with rare plant species and chosen as a final resting place for notables such as storyteller Hans Christian Andersen and philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, is today a vibrant part of city life. Copenhagen locals enjoy walking here — and even picnicking during the warmer months.
Rhododendron beds, cherry trees, Lebanese cedars, magnolias, royal ferns… nature is truly celebrated here. And with the abundance of birds and bold red squirrels that inhabit this romantic park, there’s no doubt both young and old will be enchanted.
This tour is perfectly suited for children.
